A Place to Grow, Adventure & Belong

At Camp Anerley, we believe that camp is more than a getaway — it’s a place where young people discover new strengths, build friendships, and grow in confidence.

For almost 100 years, Camp Anerley has been welcoming school groups, youth organisations, and church communities to the stunning South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal — just 1km from the beach. Today, our camp is a trusted venue for outdoor education, leadership development, and unforgettable group adventures.

From Chicken Farm
to Coastal Camp

If you visit Camp Anerley today, you’d never guess that it began as a lowly, swampy chicken farm! In 1927, the Student Christian Association (SCA) purchased this 9.3-hectare property for £1500.

By 1928, the first boys’ camps had begun — and the now-famous “Tin Temple” was built. Girls’ camps followed in 1949, and through the decades, new facilities, dining halls, kitchens, and ablution blocks were added.

Almost a century later, Camp Anerley continues to evolve — welcoming new generations of campers, schools, and youth leaders to share in its rich legacy.
